Why do some have difficulty starting?

"Why do some have difficulty starting?" It was a question that lingered through my head all of this week. Then like a particular bolt, while I was running on the treadmill, I got my answer.

People do not begin because their goals are not clear enough and they do not know where to begin! THAT made so much sense.

We can entertain and cheer others on, but when it comes to entertaining and cheering ourselves and our ideas, we hide like a turtle hides in its shell when it’s scared.

So, I created a list of goals that you can use and set for yourself as you begin your journey as a creative. I also created an idea brainstorm processor to help you break down your brilliant idea regarding what it is, the message, who it’s for, and what you need to do to bring it to life. What is your creative career path?

Do you want to be a working actor/voice actor but do not know where to begin?

• Get a professional headshot.

• Get acting training.

• Partner with new film directors to begin building your reel and resume.

• Find scripts and record your voice/acting skills on camera.

• Put a reel together.

• Create a portfolio and submit it online.

Do you want to be a working model but do not know where to begin?

• Partner with local photographers in your area. They are always looking for models! Use social media as your friend. Search #YourLocationPhotograher, follow them, and message them for a collab!

• Build your portfolio by building relationships with local photographers.

• Begin looking for representation.

Do you want to be a professional and published photographer?

Collab with local models. Use social media as your friend. Search #YourLocationModel, follow them, message them for a collab!

• Send your photos to your favorite magazine agencies!

  • Follow them on Social Media. Engage. Act like their fan, since you already are!

  • Sign up for their newsletters. There's a likely chance they have things going on and you are missing it!

• Send your photos to your favorite photographers for potential collaborations.

• Begin building relationships with the people you want to work with. Maybe not today, perhaps not tomorrow, but maybe a year from today? (Only if you put in the work now!)

Do you want to be a screenwriter?

• Take screenwriting workshops and learn the fundamentals of crafting a story.

• Finish your script! Super important!

• Submit to screenwriting contests.

• Partner with local film directors to produce it!

• Partner with local talent.

• Distribute your film on YouTube, Amazon Prime...

The opportunities are endless. The strategies are ongoing.
