How can you be more observant and not take things personally?

I would encourage you to explore sociology and spirituality to find the answer within yourself.
Let’s take spirituality for a moment. Eckhart Tolle’s The Power of Now and The New Earth describes how to be more observant of your surroundings but mostly, how to be observant of your own thoughts.
What you take personally is the conditioning that you have grown accustomed to. The people just triggered it within you. In reality, what they say to you is more of a reflection of what they are feeling deep inside themselves. So you should not take anything personally.
I love studying sociology because it gives you an overview of how society is accustomed to man-made norms, even though other countries/societies may have a different approach to what others deem as normal.
Meaning, people make stuff up, worship it as truth, and in reality, it is all just a man-made idea that an awakened soul should take with the grain of salt.
I hope this helps you with whatever you may be going through. No need to take anything personally. Do the work within and you will see how many people are still asleep, reacting instead of observing. It is a challenging journey to embark on, but it is the one that will give you all the answers you are seeking for.
Wishing you the best because you deserve the best.
