Double Down December

Is it just me or did this year go by really fast? It is so hard to fathom that we are already in December, and it is hard to ignore how fast time flies. Seeing as this is the last month of such a tumultuous year, it is a great time for some personal and communal reflection.

How did 2020 treat you? (Comment below, let’s start the conversation. I really want to know!) I made the best of what this year brought into my life, and I am also taking stock of what I am the most grateful for. I am grateful for my health and the health of my family and friends, I am grateful for all the lessons I’ve obtained this year, and overall I feel 2020 was the year of learning and discovering for me, and here are the top three lessons I was blessed with!

  1. Say Yes to everything, especially things that terrify you the most.

  • This forces you to go outside of your comfort zone, where growth and self-discovery happens. I made new friends who helped elevate me through my acting and writing career. I made new experiences that I would’ve missed out on had I said “no.” I would have missed out on all the inspiration and knowledge, had I been too scared to try new things.

2. Try to suck every day!

  • The more time and effort you put into the work, the better you get at it, but you won’t be able to get better at it, if you don’t put in the work. Embrace sucking at it and do it with grace!

3. Consistency matters!

  • Have you ever attended a class and got brave enough to ask an intellectual question only to be slapped back with this answer – consistency?!

  • Do it every day! That is the secret to everyone’s success. Show up, every single day and put in the work!

  • It’s the easiest hardest task ever but so worthwhile.

As you reflect on this year, I challenge you to identify the blessings and the lessons you have received. I challenge you to look within and ask yourself - What are you proud of? What have you achieved? What do you wish to do more of? As we go into the New Year, go with the intention for more personal development growth, for more peace, health, love, and kindness. The world needs you at your best, now more than ever. As for me, I am doubling down this December and challenging myself to finish my script for a feature film and will make sure to suck at it every single day! Wishing you a great start to a new month!

Cheers, Aya

P.S - my website got a new facelift. Will you be a good friend and let me know what you think?!
